The Rhinos fought to a one to nil win over the Seattle Sounders in front of a rowdy crowd of 8,167 to move to ninth in the USL First Division  standings. Rochester controlled much of the play up and down the field throughout the match to hand Seattle their second consecutive loss on the road.

Rochester who dominated much of the first half took an early lead with a goal from Luke Kreamalmeyer just seven minutes into the match. The goal was setup with an intricate passing play with the ball moving from Steve Guppy to Johnny Menyongar then to young Danny Earls who sent a cross over, where Kreamalmeyer headed it home. The Rhinos almost enjoyed a two goal advantage just ten minutes into the game but Seattle goalkeeper Chris Eylander made a huge leaping save on a Menyongar header to keep his team close. Rochester had a goal called back in the 18th minute on an offsides call when a ball from Menyongar was touched into the net but forward Mauricio Salles.

Seattle had their best opportunity in the 33rd minute on a counterattack started by Eylander but the Rhino defense recovered to snuff out the attack. Rochester again had a solid chance to make it 2-0 on a Guppy freekick that snuck through until Eylander made a diving save but left the rebound out front where defender Scott Palguta put his shot wide ending the first half with the Rhinos enjoying a 1-0 lead.

After a quiet first 15 minutes, where much of the play was battled out in the midfield Rochester took control moving the ball through and around the Sounder defense. Rochester began applying the pressure in the 62nd minute on a ball from Tiger Fitzpatrick which was intended for Salles but was cleared away by Seattle's Zach Scott. Three minutes later Salles was taken down just outside the box but Kreamalmeyer's free kick was straight at the Seattle keeper. Seattle fought back though with an effort in the 74th minute by Youssouf Kante but Rhino keeper Scott Vallow made a huge diving save then cleared the ball with a punch from his knees. Newly acquired midfielder Andrew Gregor made his Rhinos debut in the 82nd minute coming on for Salles putting in a solid effort on both sides of the ball.

With the win Rochester moves to ninth place in the standings with 17 points just one back of Carolina for eighth. Rochester is at home again this Sunday July 13th when they will host Miami FC with a start time of 6:00 p.m.
