United Soccer Leagues is pleased to announce that more than 80 live games from the 2012 USL PRO season will be available online through USL Live, the popular online video destination launched in 2007 to make USL matches more accessible to its fans.
This first phase of the USL Live prelaunch includes an updated platform that will allow greater social sharing functionality of all content as USL Live will move to UNATION, an events and branding network set to launch in May, 2012. All USL Live broadcasts can be viewed at www.usllive.com.
UNATION will take USL Live’s streaming video beyond your desktop and laptop computer. For the first time live streaming video of USL PRO games will be available on your smart phone, so you can take Rochester Rhinos soccer with you everywhere you go.
“This year we’ve decided to take a technological leap forward and make UNATION the exclusive broadcasting partner of the Rochester Rhinos.” Rochester Rhinos President and Chief Operating Officer Pat Ercoli said. “It’s a 4G world out there, and we’re offering our fans the opportunity to follow every one of our matches through their smart phone. As the UNATION platform continues to develop throughout the season, it will also provide our fans a unique chance to interact with our players and organization. “
Through USL Live on UNATION, fans will have the ability to chat and interact during live game broadcasts. During the coming weeks USL Live will develop into an innovative, comprehensive social hub that will bring together USL, teams, players, and the fans in an exciting online community. Additional announcements about USL's new online initiatives will be made during the opening weeks of the 2012 USL PRO season.
“We took a look at what we’ve done in the past to broadcast our matches, both home and away, to our fans.” Rochester Rhinos Vice-President David Cieslinski said. “With the advancement of technology and the direction of social media we felt it was time to follow Major League Soccer’s lead. The best part of USL Live on UNATION is that it’s free to fans. When you think about the portability of being able to follow every Rhinos game live on a computer, laptop, or smart phone, as well as the new social networking platform that UNATION is developing, this is best opportunity for our fans to follow the Rhinos. Not only can they watch us live from literally anywhere in the world, but they will be able to interact with us as well.”
The Rhinos first scheduled live game webcast will take place Saturday, April 14th when they travel to California to face the Los Angeles Blues.
In addition to live games and full-length game archives, USL Live will continue highlighting the teams and personalities throughout USL’s pyramid of youth, amateur and professional leagues with highlights, interviews and short-form features. This broadband network is completely free to viewers and all videos may be linked, shared, or embedded through unlimited web platforms.
