Rhinos Notes - Week 2
Rhinos On Demand
Last Saturday night the Rhinos turned in a professional performance away from Sahlen’s Stadium and defeated the Blues 1:0 in Los Angeles. Scottish striker Tom McManus headed home a cross from JC Banks in the 22nd minute to score the only goal of the game on his debut.
Goalkeeper Kristian Nicht made the save of the match in the 66th minute when he denied Blues right midfielder Brian Farber’s header with a reflex save from point blank range to preserve the clean sheet. The Rhinos closed up shop in the last 20 minutes and held onto all three points on the road.

Rhinos make to late additions to 2012 roster
The Rochester Rhinos made two late additions to their 2012 roster last week. Defenders Georgios Kyriazis and Lucas Fernandez have agreed to terms with the Rhinos for the 2012 season. Both defenders made the flight for the Rhinos season opening trip to Los Angeles.
Giorgios Kyriazis is a 6’2”, 32 year old Greek center back who has been in training camp with the Rhinos all spring, but just received final league and FA approval to play within the last 24 hours. Kyriazis is an eight year veteran of Italy’s Serie B with four different clubs (Catania, Arezzo, Triestina, and Salernitana) and an eight year veteran of the Greek Super League with Iraklis Thessalaniki (1996 – 2003, 2010).
Lucas Fernandez is a 23 year old outside back who grew up in Argentinos Juniors Academy – the same academy that produced Diego Maradona, Fernando Redondo, and Juan Roman Riquelme. Fernandez graduated to the Reserve Team from 2007 to 2009 and played with the Argentinos Juniors First Team in 2010. In 2011 Fernandez moved to Jorge Wilstermann (BOL) where he played in front of 40,000 fans in the Copa Libertadores. Fernandez made his debut as an 86th minute substitute in the Rhinos season opening victory over the Blues.
